Amanda Cavanough is an Associate in the Labour & Employment group of Seyfarth Shaw Australia.  

Amanda has assisted employers in a range of industries in all aspects of workplace relations including contractual disputes, enterprise bargaining, industrial action and claims of unfair dismissal and adverse action. Amanda has experience acting for clients in complex litigation in the Fair Work Commission as well as state and federal courts.

Amanda’s recent experience includes:

  • defending an application to make a modern enterprise award;
  • providing advice and assistance in bargaining for an enterprise agreement;
  • advising on a high level executive separation agreement;
  • making an application to terminate and enterprise agreement after its nominal expiry date; and 
  • Defence of proceedings brought by employees and unions under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cht) alleging unlawful adverse action in the Federal Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court of Australia.

Amanda also has a keen interest in philanthropic and community initiatives, for example, through the firm’s participation in the Fair Work Commission Pro Bono Scheme and support of various charities.

Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw Australia, Amanda completed a two year associateship to the Honourable Justice Marshall of the Federal Court of Australia. 

Amanda was awarded a Master of Laws by the University of Melbourne in 2014.
