Located in the city’s Seaport, or Innovation District, our Boston office attorneys bring innovation and skill to meet the growing needs of our clients.

Our attorneys serve as strategic advisors for local, national, and global clients across a wide range of key industries, including health care, life sciences and pharma, retail, hospitality, transportation, financial services, and technology. Offering the full range of legal services, our Boston attorneys collaborate across practice areas to provide comprehensive counsel for our clients. For nearly 20 years, we have been at the forefront of legal process improvement. As a firm and an office, we have gained acclaim for our innovative SeyfarthLean client service model, which incorporates the core principles of Lean Six Sigma to the delivery of legal services, and we continue to enhance our state of the art technology infrastructure deploying the latest analytics, project management and AI tools.

Bringing together specialty areas, such as bankruptcy, construction, franchise and distribution, intellectual property, trade secrets, and securities litigation, with our robust labor and employment, business immigration and global mobility, commercial litigation, corporate finance, and real estate expertise, the Boston office provides clients with tailored and expansive counsel to ensure they remain competitive in shifting markets.

What makes the Boston office unique can be distilled into one word: Leadership. Many of our Boston attorneys hold national leadership positions in the firm. Not only is Seyfarth’s current Litigation department chair in Boston, but we count among our partners members of the firm’s Executive Committee and Partner Board, as well as the immediate past chairs of the Litigation and Labor & Employment departments.

In addition, more than 10 of our attorneys serve as national practice group chairs in areas such as antitrust, business immigration and global mobility, intellectual property, commercial finance, employment and wage and hour litigation and counseling, franchise and distribution, health care, real estate leasing, and trade secrets and noncompetes. This leadership provides our attorneys, clients, and lateral candidates specific insights into the firm, and serves as an important resource for those looking to grow at Seyfarth.

RECOGNITION

The Boston office and its attorneys are nationally and locally recognized by a variety of rankings, including Chambers USA, The Legal 500, US News: Best Lawyers, and Best Law Firms, in several areas. Our firm’s stellar national reputation is combined with our specific recognition in Massachusetts in areas of law, such as antitrust, banking & finance, construction, business immigration and global mobility, labor & employment, including wage and hour litigation and real estate. Several of our attorneys are recognized by The BTI Consulting Group as Client Service All-Stars by clients. This outside counsel-nominated list is based primarily on their superior client focus, but also on their innovative thought leadership, unmatched business acumen, legal skills, and client experience. In 2023, Seyfarth was named one of Boston Business Journal’s Best Places to Work, an exclusive ranking of Massachusetts companies that have built outstanding work environments for their employees.

CULTURE

The Boston office opened its doors in 1999 with two partners and five associates, and has since experienced substantial growth. Our attorneys continue to be committed to creating an office with distinct cultural advantages to other law firms. The office’s key pillars are teamwork, parity, and diversity. Using firm resources such as SeyfarthLife, we value and emphasize the importance of mindfulness, community, and work/life balance throughout our hallways.

We are committed to playing an active, positive role in the communities in which we work and live. In addition to collaborating with our pro bono partners, Kids In Need of Defense, the Volunteers Lawyers Project, and Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project, our attorneys are proud to participate in and support a variety of community projects and organizations, as well as bar and industry associations.

In September 2018, our Boston office was a key driving force behind the launch and establishment of the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce, which seeks to "promote economic growth and viability for LGBT-owned and allied businesses, corporations, and professionals throughout the Commonwealth." Our office has also played a similar role in the growth of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association..

Two organizations embody the Boston office: Best Buddies International and the American Heart Association. Best Buddies which has been the flagship charity of the Boston office for 20 years, is dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to secure rewarding jobs, live and work independently, and become inspirational leaders. We are also extremely engaged with the American Heart Association of Boston. Our attorneys serve as board members, volunteers, and participate in the annual Lawyers Have Heart race.

Additionally, the office and individual attorneys regularly support the MA Black Lawyers Association, Families First, Hospitality Homes, the Women’s Bar Foundation, the New England Council, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Find the Cause Breast Cancer Foundation, the Boston Debate League, the Greater Boston Food Bank, and more.

SETTING

Our office is located in the center of the fastest-growing neighborhood in Boston, the Seaport. The neighborhood is a hub for some of the largest companies in technology, life sciences, retail, and more. Seyfarth was one of the first firms to move to Boston’s Seaport and we are committed to remaining at the forefront of change and innovation within Boston’s legal community.
