Christina Meddin is an associate in the Atlanta office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.  A member of the Labor & Employment department, Ms. Meddin’s practice focuses on employment-related litigation and compliance counseling involving federal and state statutes that govern employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation, wage and hour issues as well as employee leave and employee benefits issues.
 
Ms. Meddin has successfully represented employers from a wide variety of industries in federal and state courts, administrative proceedings, and arbitrations in jurisdictions throughout the country.  Ms. Meddin has defended employers in single and multi-plaintiff cases involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliatory discharge, failure to accommodate and interference with protected rights under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 and various other local, state and federal statutes.  Ms. Meddin also has significant experience handling administrative charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  In her wage and hour practice, Ms. Meddin has defended employers in single plaintiff cases and collective actions involving alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.  In her employee benefits practice, Ms. Meddin has defended claims brought under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).  Ms. Meddin also has significant experience handling garnishment matters for employers.
 
In addition to her representation of employers in litigation and administrative proceedings, Ms. Meddin devotes a portion of her practice to advice and compliance counseling, including reviewing employment policies and handbooks to ensure best practices are followed, providing guidance on issues such as employee discipline, discharge, workplace reductions and disability accommodation, and conducting pay practice assessments.   Ms. Meddin also has experience conducting workplace investigations on behalf of employers into allegations of company policy violations by employees.
 
Ms. Meddin maintains an active pro bono practice, including providing legal assistance to low income clients through the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.  In addition, Ms. Meddin frequently represents immigrant victims of domestic violence and human trafficking in connection with the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network.
