Mr. Compton is senior counsel in the Corporate Department in the Atlanta office.  He is a member of the Commercial Finance team.  Clients are local governments and corporate entities in the fields of economic development, corporate credits and incentives, project and governmental finance, and ad valorem taxation.
 
Mr. Compton has guided and closed numerous high profile, complex projects and transactions all over the State of Georgia, representing billions of dollars in public and private investment, with a particular focus on acting as counsel to public authorities and private companies in economic development bond financing. His experience in public finance also includes general obligation bonds, sales tax revenue bonds, and a variety of private activity bonds (small issue industrial development bonds for manufacturing facilities and recovery zone facility bonds). Mr. Compton also practices in the areas of credits and incentives, state and local taxation and intergovernmental undertakings.
 
As a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, Mr. Compton is listed in the “Red Book” directory of nationally recognized bond lawyers. He is also active in such economic development industry associations as the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
