Colton Long is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw’s Chicago office, focusing his work on litigating and advising companies on labor and employment matters throughout the country. Mr. Long has considerable experience litigating and advising on claims or disputes brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII (and state law equivalents), the Family and Medical Leave Act and various whistleblower statutes. Mr. Long also provides thorough, pragmatic, and timely advice to clients navigating the waters of workforce reductions and restructurings, with a particular emphasis on assisting in compliance with the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act ("OWBPA") and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (“WARN”). In addition, Mr. Long litigates and advises employers on general contract, non-compete, and executive compensation disputes. As a devoted advocate and litigator, Mr. Long prides himself on providing thorough and high quality services to employers, large and small.

In recognition of his work, Mr. Long was awarded a Minnesota “Rising Star” designation by Super Lawyers magazine, a designation given to only 2.5 percent of attorneys practicing in each state for excellence in practice.

Before practicing, Mr. Long served as a judicial intern for the Honorable John A. Jarvey of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa and the Honorable Matthew E. Johnson, Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
