Mr. Whang is a partner in the Labor and Employment Department in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP where he represents employers in all aspects of employment law, including class, multi-plaintiff, and single-plaintiff cases involving wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, PAGA, and unfair competition claims.  Mr. Whang has represented clients in a variety of industries including insurance, manufacturing, restaurant and food services, hospitality, staffing services, education, childcare, financial services, healthcare, and retail.

Mr. Whang also brings a diverse litigation background to his practice.  In addition to labor and employment matters, he has extensive experience litigating other complex commercial matters involving claims of patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, contractual interference, breaches of fiduciary duty, legal malpractice, product liability, insurance bad faith, construction defect, and violations of securities laws.

Representative Engagements

  • Obtained dismissal of class action allegations against manufacturer of food and beverage products for unpaid overtime, failure to pay minimum wages, failure to provide meal and rest breaks, failure to provide accurate wage statements, and unfair competition.
  • Obtained judgment on the pleadings in favor of staffing services company on class action and PAGA claims for noncompliant wage statements and wages due upon termination.
  • Successfully enforced settlement with class representative, which resulted in the class claims being dismissed.
  • Obtained favorable settlement for healthcare company of wrongful termination and discrimination claims brought by former employee.
  • Obtained favorable settlement for insurance company of disability discrimination and wrongful termination claims brought by former employee.
  • Obtained voluntary dismissal of all class and representative PAGA allegations in putative meal and rest break class action.
