Isaac E. Chao is an associate in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Corporate Department. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities, and other corporate transactional matters.
 
Mr. Chao has represented clients in various corporate matters including reporting obligations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, corporate governance, stock and asset transactions, syndicated commercial loan facilities; and negotiating and drafting limited partnership agreements for private equity investments, technology transfer, and strategic alliance agreements. Mr. Chao has also counseled clients in connection with regulatory investigations conducted by the Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
 
During law school, Mr. Chao served as an intern in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York and as an intern for the Honorable Judge Harold Baer, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
 
Mr. Chao has also established a significant pro bono practice, including working with the Legal Aid Society to represent a tenant before the New York City Housing Preservation Department, representing an El Salvador national seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and working with the New York City Law Department to defend the city against allegations of tortious conduct. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
