Mr. Kaminer is a partner in the Real Estate Group of Seyfarth Shaw LLP; he has practiced commercial real estate law for more than 30 years.  His practice includes most areas of commercial real estate with an emphasis on real estate finance, office leasing, and the structuring of real estate transactions.  Mr. Kaminer also has significant experience in the enforcement of remedies and restructuring of debt in distressed real estate transactions.

Representative finance transactions on behalf of lenders include the following: 

  • $115,000,000.00 permanent loan secured by Washington D.C. office building and occupied primarily by a prominent national law firm;
  • $165,000,000.00 construction loan secured by a New Jersey office building and net leased to a major Wall Street firm;
  • $130,000,000.00 permanent loan to a health care company secured by 12 properties in 6 states;
  • $175,000,000.00 acquisition and renovation loan for a Washington D.C. office building . 

Representative lease transactions include the following: 

  • represented landlord in a 175,000 square foot headquarters lease for an international financial institution in Atlanta;
  • represented tenant in the restructure and extension of a 325,000 square foot lease in Atlanta;
  • represented sublandlord in a 100,000 square foot sublease in southern California to a major financial institution;
  • represented law firm tenant in a 80,000 square foot lease in an office building under construction. 

Representative workout transactions on behalf of lenders include the following: 

  • restructure and eventual enforcement of remedies in $75,000,000.00 revolving line of credit secured by multiple properties in 5 states;
  • sale of defaulted loans in various amounts up to $85,000,000.00;
  • acquisition of distressed loan and subsequent deed in lieu transaction on large office building in Atlanta.

As a corollary to his real estate practice, Mr. Kaminer has a longstanding interest in conservation and in sustainable development.   He has been a member of and advisor to the Georgia chapter of The Nature Conservancy for over 20 years.   He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees and serves on its Conservation Committee.   Mr. Kaminer also served on the Board of Trustees of the Chattahoochee Hill Country Conservancy, one of the prime movers in the first large scale sustainable development effort in the State of Georgia.   The Chattahoochee Hill Country Conservancy's development plan included the institution and implementation of a transfer of development rights ("TDR") program.
