Ms. Murtha is an attorney in the San Francisco office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, and is a member of the firm's Labor & Employment Department.  Ms. Murtha provides advice and counsel to employers with U.S. and global human resources issues occurring throughout the employment lifecycle.  Her practice includes: drafting and negotiation of executive and employment agreements; providing advice for legally compliant hiring practices and the investigation and defense of employer practices concerning discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract and other employer-focused federal and California statutory and regulatory requirements. Ms. Murtha also provides counsel for federal and state wage and hour issues and represents employers in federal and state agency audits. She has vast experience drafting employment policies and handbooks and provides assistance with employment issues arising during corporate transitions, such as mergers & acquisitions, reduction-in-forces and terminations.

Ms. Murtha also provides corporate training for a wide array of employment topics, such as sexual harassment prevention, conducting workplace investigations, wage and hour compliance, management of leave laws and annual employment law updates.

Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Ms. Murtha was the U.S. Head of Policy and Employee Relations Operations at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, a financial institution with over 140,000 employees in over 40 countries.  There she provided leadership and ER consulting services focused on strategy development, integration of HR programs and policies and employee communications.  In her prior legal practice, Ms. Murtha represented clients in the technology, bio-technology, manufacturing and financial service industries providing both employment counsel and representation in litigation matters.
