Joanna S. Smith is an Associate in the New York City office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Her practice is focused on employment litigation.

Ms. Smith represents management in employment litigation in state and federal court and before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Division of Human Rights, and New York City Commission on Human Rights. She has experience in handling wage and hour class and collective actions, employment discrimination, harassment retaliation, wrongful discharge, and employment contract claims. Ms. Smith has represented clients in a variety of industries, including, hospitality, retail, health clubs and health care. 

Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Ms. Smith was a litigation associate with a Labor and Employment firm in New York where she defended both federal and state cases involving claims of wage and hour violation, retaliation and/or discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation and disability. Ms. Smith has also received training in mediation and obtained her Certificate in Workplace Mediation by the Office of Administration Trials and Hearings, Center of Mediation Services in 2009.
