As Chief Strategy Officer, Josh Kubicki leads market-driven development and key growth initiatives for Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He works closely with firm leadership on strategy and innovation, particularly in the application of business model design to the transformation of legal service delivery. In his role, he oversees the firm’s practice development, marketing, business development, pricing, Lean solutions, business design, and business intelligence teams.

Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Mr. Kubicki designed and built sustainable businesses and brands, with focus on emerging models within the legal services market, including legal tech, tech-enabled services, and flexible talent models. As the Founder and President of Legal Transformation Institute, a consulting firm specializing in business design and acceleration, Mr. Kubicki served a clientele ranging from pre-revenue startups and small regional firms to large international firms and global content providers.  

Mr. Kubicki has also held leadership roles within several global legal service organizations where he led specialty divisions and projects focusing on innovation and change in business processes. He joined Verizon’s legal department out of law school and spent three years there as an antitrust specialist. At Verizon, Mr. Kubicki worked directly with business units on both legal and business challenges to help the department reduce transaction time, cost, and business interruption.

Mr. Kubicki is a recognized expert, thought leader, and entrepreneur within the legal sector, particularly on business of law, future of law, legal innovation, changing competitive landscape and evolution of legal buy practices.  He serves as adjunct faculty at Michigan State University, where he developed design thinking coursework for J.D. candidates. In 2014, he was named to the Fastcase 50 for his work with legal startups.  He regularly speaks and writes on the broad range of topics encompassed by legal transformation.
