King Lit Wong, Ph.D., is a senior counsel in the Intellectual Property Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Washington, D.C. office.  He has extensive experience managing worldwide patent portfolios as well as preparing and prosecuting patent applications, including re-examinations and reissues, related to pharmaceuticals, chemicals, polymers, nutraceuticals, biotechnology, diagnostics, biologics such as vaccines, antibodies, enzymes, and peptides, skin care products, cosmetics, nanotechnology, and fuel cells both in the United States and abroad.  He also has extensive experience preparing, prosecuting and obtaining design and plant patents.
 
Dr. Wong has provided freedom-to-operate, invalidity and patentability opinions for clients in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology industries.
 
Prior to practicing law, Dr. Wong was an Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in an organic chemistry art unit examining patent applications on pharmaceutical and industrial chemicals, as well as processes for preparation of organic chemicals.
 
His scientific experience includes performing laboratory research in pharmacology and toxicology and providing toxicological analysis support for the NASA Space Shuttle and Space Station programs.  He was on the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh lecturing on pharmacokinetics, among other subjects. Dr. Wong has co-authored over 20 articles published in biomedical journals and the Encyclopedia Britannica.
 
Dr. Wong has also taught courses on claim drafting, advanced patent prosecution issues and advanced amendment writing with the Practising Law Institute (PLI).
