Melissa Nelson is a Senior Associate in the Washington D.C. office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, and is a member of the Real Estate Group. 

Ms. Nelson has extensive experience advising clients on all stages of commercial real estate projects, including acquisitions, dispositions, due diligence, structuring, financing, leasing, development and project operations.  Her clients include developers (commercial and residential), landlords, tenants, lenders, equity investors, real estate investment trusts and pension fund advisers.  Ms. Nelson has counseled regional and national landlords and tenants in negotiating and drafting leases for office, industrial and retail (including regional and strip shopping centers) spaces.  She represents borrowers, banks (local and national), life insurance companies and other lenders in negotiating complex financing (construction and permanent) for a variety of commercial and residential real estate projects of various sizes and purposes.

Ms. Nelson has advised developers, hotel owners and operators, builders and resort owners and operators in the areas of planning, development, restructuring and operating of resorts, master planned communities (residential, commercial and large scale mixed-use) and various types of condominium developments, including office, condo-hotels and condominium conversions.  She is skilled at drafting and negotiating a wide variety of complex agreements for clients including management agreements, license agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, covenants (CC&R’s), declarations and development agreements. Ms. Nelson has obtained numerous Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act registrations and nationwide out-of-state sales registrations.
