Meredith Oliva is counsel in the Labor & Employment department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Meredith concentrates her practice in the area of defense litigation with a special emphasis on employment.  She has represented numerous corporations, municipalities, and elected officials on matters in federal court and state court, as well as before the EEOC, IDHR, Department of Labor, and Chicago Commission on Human Relations.  Meredith has also represented employers in cases brought by the EEOC.  Meredith has also drafted personnel handbooks and conducted many employee training seminars.  Meredith has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict in both state and federal courts, including those with exposure in the millions of dollars. 

In addition, Meredith has advised clients on compliance with various state and federal laws affecting the workplace, including: TITLE VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA and various Illinois laws.  She works closely with clients through all phases of litigation including, investigations, preparation for depositions, attending depositions and trials.

  • Obtained a not guilty verdict for her clients after a one week jury trial in the Northern District of Illinois before the Honorable Judge Mathew F. Kennelly.
