Mitchell Brennan is an associate in the International Labour, Employment and Safety practice in the Melbourne office of Seyfarth Shaw in Australia.

His broad experience includes employment and industrial relations matters, and also assisting clients with their workplace health and safety needs (WHS). Leveraging knowledge across these areas of law allows him to highlight and address issues other lawyers miss.

Mitchell has supported clients in a range of employment and industrial relations matters including supporting the making and approval of enterprise agreements and associated litigation, industrial action and disputes, unfair and unlawful dismissal, and regulatory compliance and investigations.

Mitchell’s WHS expertise includes acting for employers during investigations and defending prosecutions by WHS regulators across various Australian jurisdictions. This includes advising employers on responding to workplace incidents and responding to regulators exercising coercive powers, including internal and external review of their decisions. He also has experience helping clients undertake critical risk assessments to manage WHS risks.

Mitchell assists parties through the firm's participation in the Fair Work Commission Pro Bono Scheme.

Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Mitchell served as Associate to Commissioner JCW Lewin and Commissioner T Cirkovic of the Fair Work Commission, Australia's national workplace relations tribunal, providing him unique insight into the tribunal’s powers and functions.
