Pamela L. Vartabedian is a senior associate in the San Francisco office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, and a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department.  Her practice is focused on employment litigation, with a particular emphasis on wage and hour class and collective action claims involving meal break, rest break, misclassification, overtime, expense reimbursement, and work-off-the-clock allegations.  She also handles single and multi-plaintiff claims for discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as employment-related tort and contract claims.  

Ms. Vartabedian has significant second-chair jury trial experience and most recently received a complete defense verdict against breach of contract, defamation, and employment discrimination claims.  She has successfully opposed numerous class certification attempts and has successfully brought motions for summary judgment or otherwise successfully resolved cases.

In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Vartabedian also provides counseling to employers concerning a variety of workplace issues and litigation avoidance strategies, including compliance with California and federal anti-discrimination, anti-harassment and mandated leave laws, recruitment and hiring, wage-hour, employee classification, terminations, and other human resources practices.  Ms. Vartabedian has worked with employers in various industries, including health care, retail, food service, entertainment, insurance, construction, and hospitality.  She also frequently provides pro bono advice and counseling to local nonprofit organizations, and volunteers with local pro bono community programs.

During law school, Ms. Vartabedian served as an extern to Justice Patricia Bamattre-Manoukian at the California Sixth District Court of Appeal, was an Editor of the Santa Clara Law Review, and was Vice President of the Women and Law Association.
