Chicago Partner, Paul Vishny, will present at the 20th Annual ALI-ABA Course Study. After an introductory discussion of the basics of international law and researching skills, this annual course of study, comprising more than 18 hours of instruction, covers international sales of goods; regulation of imports and exports; contracting with agents and distributors; intellectual property rights and licensing; e-commerce; foreign investment, including foreign law restrictions and insurance; joint ventures; and dispute resolution. Also included are issues of immigration law and of ethics and professional responsibility (one hour). Throughout, the tax aspects of international transactions are considered. The course also includes concurrent breakout sessions for those wanting more in-depth information on taxation or on mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
