Legal Holds 2.0
Address
San Francisco, CA
San Francisco, CA
Managing legal holds has become increasingly complex. For companies in high tech, global, or data-intensive environments, it is particularly difficult to track the people and systems that fall under legal holds. Relying on permanent retention of all data just shifts the enormous legal burden to IT without commensurate controls and transparency. During this session, our speakers will outline changes in legal holds practices, as well as discuss strategies, lessons learned, and current programs, including:
- Inventorying open legal matters to understand where preservation obligations start and end
- Scoping custodians initially and iteratively, including large custodian groups
- Building critical relationships and communication paths with IT
- Models for preserving and collecting structured as well as unstructured data
- Reducing risk with rigorous tracking and record keeping
