Angelo Paparelli, partner of Seyfarth’s Business Immigration Practice Group and co-chair of its EB-5 Immigrant Investment Specialty Team, will present “Ethics and Risk Management” from 2-3 PM PT at the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s full-day EB-5 conference on February 13, 2016.

The resurrection of the EB-5 program has coincided with the rise of regional centers, migration agencies, and a cottage industry of attorneys, economists, business analysts, accountants, and business plan writers.  In an environment saturated with over 750 regional centers vying for investors, government regulators are watching closely to ensure the integrity and continued success of the program.  This panel covers ethical considerations of professional responsibility and risk management involved in handling an EB-5 matter from start to finish, including:

  • Conflict of interest in the context of EB-5 representation
  • Who is the client?
  • The role of migration agents
  • Do’s and Don’ts - the role of the EB-5 lawyer and upholding the rules of professional responsibility
  • Dealing with problematic EB-5 projects
