Does your organization have employees in the State of New York? Then you are most likely covered by New York State’s Paid Family Leave Law (PFL), going into effect on January 1, 2018.  PFL will provide employees with 8 weeks of leave in 2018 to care for a family member with a serious health condition, for bonding leave, and for a qualified military exigency. The final regulations, issued last week, provide detailed information on employee contributions, eligibility, and notice requirements. Are you ready?

Topics will include:

  • Overview of the New York Paid Family Leave Law, employer and employee obligations
  • Practical applications of the law and real world examples
  • PFL’s interaction with employer-provided leave (such as PTO and paid parental leave) and other leave laws, including, e.g., the Family & Medical Leave Act and New York City’s Earned Sick Time Act
  • Best practices for implementing a written policy and posting requirements
