On August 1, 2016, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker signed a bill that amends the Commonwealth’s pay equity law effective July 1, 2018. The changes make the law one of the most stringent in the country and will impose new restrictions on employers’ pay and hiring practices. For more on this issue, see our One Minute Memo here.

Please join us on August 10 to find out exactly how the new law drastically differs from the existing statute, and what employers should be doing now to begin to prepare for enforcement of the new law. Topics will include:

  • Prohibitions on requests for applicants' pay history
  • Broad pay transparency requirements
  • New self-evaluation defense
  • Narrower justifications for wage differentials
