Earlier this year, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) issued its Guidance and Q+A addressing the Massachusetts Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) which goes into effect on April 1, 2018

The PWFA expands the Massachusetts anti-discrimination statute to specifically prohibit discrimination against individuals due to pregnancy or pregnancy-related conditions (including breastfeeding), and to require reasonable accommodations when necessary. It imposes a number of new obligations on employers and will require employers to review their current policies and processes to ensure that they comply with the new law.

Please join Seyfarth Shaw's Cindy Westervelt, Jean Wilson and Alison Silveira for an informative and interactive webinar reviewing what employers need to know and how to plan for the April 1 changes.

Some specific topics to be covered include:

  • A review of the major requirements of the PWFA
  • Recent developments from the MCAD with respect to PWFA compliance
  • What employers need to do on or before April 1, 2018
  • Specific considerations and tips for in-house counsel and human resources professionals
