The O'Hare Modernization Program ("OMP") is one of the largest construction projects in the country and is the region’s economic stimulus package offering a number of contract and employment opportunities.  The OMP reconfigures O'Hare International Airport's intersecting runways into a more modern, parallel layout, including a new western terminal facility.  The OMP is managed by the Chicago Department of Aviation which announced a $1.17B agreement between the City and the airlines in March 2011 that will allow the OMP to move forward.

Please join Seyfarth Shaw LLP and its Government Contractors Business Forum ("GCBF") for the May meeting and networking reception of the 2011 program series.

Our distinguished speakers are Michael Boland, First Deputy Commissioner, Chicago Department of Aviation and Rich Butler, First Deputy Procurement Officer, City of Chicago Department of Procurement Services.  Commissioners Boland and Butler will discuss the progress of the OMP including:

  • Overview of the O'Hare Modernization Program
  • Upcoming OMP Projects
  • Capital Improvement & Non-Construction Projects
  • Airport Concession Opportunities
  • Current City Procurement Policies
  • M/WBE Contract Participation & Compliance Requirements

Additionally, Jerry Buch and Mark Johnson, partners in Seyfarth's Construction Law Group, will make a brief presentation entitled "What Your Lawyer Didn't Tell You About oday's Construction Market."  They will discuss hot topics in the Illinois construction industry, and provide some practical legal advice to help contractors and consultants to avoid pitfalls and achieve their business goals during these challenging economic times.

After the program discussions, Seyfarth will host a networking reception to provide participants an opportunity to meet the speakers and members of the GCBF.  The GCBF is a group of local, established government contractors and consultants who were invited to participate by Seyfarth to remain abreast of current developments in government procurement regulations, policies, legislation and programs of local, state and federal agencies. Anita Ponder, a partner in Seyfarth's Government Contracts Group, is the Chair of the GCBF.
