Seyfarth Shaw and Client Nike Honored as 2013 “ACC Value Champions”

CHICAGO (June 19, 2013) — The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) announced today that Seyfarth Shaw LLP and its client, Nike, Inc.,have been recognized as 2013 “ACC Value Champions” for their collaboration in implementing innovative strategies that deliver results while keeping efficiency high and costs low.

Now in its second year, the ACC Value Champions initiative is a component of the ACC Value Challenge. This year eight law departments and four law department/law firm collaborations were honored for delivering substantial value to their client organizations by cutting spending, improving predictability and achieving better legal outcomes.

Seyfarth was recognized for partnering with Nike to create and manage a program that drives time and cost efficiencies through a strategic work allocation process model that allows in-house counsel to focus on sophisticated work. Following its SeyfarthLean approach, Seyfarth is helping Nike dramatically improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness with a standardized, technology-driven process to manage matter intake and selection ofthe right legal provider for each project. The resulting workflow program has reduced contract cycle time from 15-plus days to 2.6 days, an 83 percent increase in efficiency.

The 2013 Value Champions were selected from a group of 75 nominations submitted between December 2012 and February 2013. This also marks the second consecutive year that the ACC recognized Seyfarth as a Value Champion. Last year, Seyfarth earned honors for its work with client Rockwell Collins.
