CHICAGO (November 21, 2013) — The Financial Times (FT) has recognized Seyfarth Shaw LLP among the most innovative law firms in its US Innovative Lawyers 2013 report for the third consecutive year.
Noted for its innovative approaches, Seyfarth is the top-ranking firm in the Business of Law category. The recognition reflects the ongoing efforts of the firm's leadership, partnership and staff to drive quality and efficiency in the delivery of client service.
Seyfarth is also the only firm with an Innovative Individual recognized in each of the last three years. At the report’s launch event held in New York on November 20, Seyfarth partner Robert Reynolds was honored among a group of the 10 most innovative individuals in the legal industry. He was named one of the FT’s “Top 10 Agents for Change” in 2013 for his efforts in launching SeyfarthLean Consulting, as well as developing the Transaction Solutions Center for Nike, Inc. which the FT recognized as its top Business of Law innovation of 2013.
Reynolds is the latest firm innovator recognized by the FT. He joins Seyfarth chair J. Stephen Poor – the FT’s Most Innovative Lawyer of 2011 – and Seyfarth executive committee member and Labor & Employment department chair Lisa Damon, who was a “Top 10 Agent for Change” honoree last year.
“Each year it’s an exciting honor to see our collaborative efforts with clients recognized in this report,” said Poor, Seyfarth’s chair. “With an emphasis on listening to our clients’ challenges and needs, we’re more focused than ever on tailoring specific and innovative solutions, like those cited in this report, for our clients.”
The FT recognized Seyfarth for the following:
Business of Law - The firm received “Standout” honors, topping this category with its Transaction Solutions Center, developed on behalf of Nike, Inc., which manages workflow, resourcing and the disaggregation of legal services with real-time analytics for in-house counsel. The firm also earned “Highly Commended” honors for developing a Portfolio Tracker for Prudential Financial, Inc. to manage a specific litigation portfolio, and analyze and report on these case metrics.
- Litigation - The firm received “Commended” honors for successfully applying a novel government estoppel defense as part of its efforts to protect the use of credit history as a hiring criteria for Kaplan Higher Education Corp.
Known internationally for its authority, integrity and accuracy, the FT is one of the world’s leading business and news information organizations. This year, the report’s rigorous submission and referral process included more than 350 submissions from 59 law firms to reach the final rankings. Entries were scored on originality, rationale and impact of the work.
