Joshua Rodine was quoted in a September 7 story “State Supreme Court rules retirees protected with prompt pay laws” in the Northern California Record on a recent California Supreme Court ruling which concluded that retiring is a form of quitting when it comes to prompt pay protections provided for in California labor laws. Rodine said that the distinction between terminated employees and retirees can help employers determine how final pay is tendered, but the Labor Code’s timing requirement dictates when it’s paid out.
