Webinar Recording: Guidance on State and Local Paid Sick Leave Laws – Part 3
State and local paid sick leave and other paid time off developments continue to change at exceptional rates. So too does the COVID-19 pandemic. As employers have now been dealing with the realities and impact of COVID-19 for nearly a year, we highlight some of the changes and amendments we’ve seen in the Paid Sick Leave Law landscape due to COVID-19. In addition to providing an overview of existing state and local COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave Laws, this program addresses COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave developments in California, New York, Pittsburgh (PA), and Washington, DC.
Part 3 of our webinar series provides insight into the current status of COVID-19 paid sick leave mandates in these locations and across the United States.
Topics covered during the webinar include:
- Updates on the status of state and local COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave mandates in California, including local mandates that were revived after expiring at the end of 2020; the status of state-wide legislation that would expand statewide COVID-19 leave, and the interplay with Cal/OSHA’s earnings continuation provisions;
- An overview of the New York State COVID-19 Emergency Leave Law, which will have its one year anniversary this month, the Law’s paid sick leave mandate, and recent state Department of Labor guidance on this mandate;
- A discussion of the Pittsburgh, PA Temporary Emergency COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave mandate, including its impact on the city’s general non-COVID-19 Paid Sick Days Act;
- Highlights of the Washington, D.C. COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave mandate, including updates on enforcement and a potential sunset date for the requirements;
- Forecast of additional federal, state and local paid sick leave developments in the coming months.
