Bart Lazar Quoted in IP Law 360 "Report Names China, Russia Among Worst IP Pirates"

Bart Lazar was quoted in the article, “Report Names China, Russia Among Worst IP Pirates,” published in the May 1, 2008 issue of IP Law 360. The article reports on the  United States Trade Representative’s (USTR) “Special 301” report, which places China and Russia and seven other countries on its “priority watch list” for failing to implement adequate and effective IP rights protection for U.S. movies, music, computer software and other copyrighted material.

Bart remarked that both U.S. and European Union customs statistics show that more than 80% of all counterfeit goods seized originate in China. Bart also noted that, “the trademark community has been hopeful that the situation would change with the Olympics. However, we have not seen significant improvements yet, which is why the USTR has again singled out China.”
