While most of the country is subject to shutdown orders, federal and local leaders are contemplating when and how to bring people back to work. Return to work plans will vary widely, and will require employers to grapple with challenges unique to their industry, workforce and geographic locations. Given the volume, breadth, and complexity of these issues, now is the time for employers to lay the groundwork for implementing specific return to work plans. Employers will need to identify and address the challenges that will face their industry and specific workforce when shelter in place orders are lifted.
Topics include:
- Determining which employees to return to work, and when and how to bring them back
- Issues to consider before employees return
- Maintaining a safe workplace, including conducting screenings and developing other health and safety protocols
- Communicating to employees regarding COVID-19 related issues, including how and what to communicate
- Developing and implementing social distancing protocols
- Complying with federal, state, and local COVID-19 related laws and orders, including new and expanded paid leave laws
- Developing and implementing COVID-19 related policies
