Daniel Klein and Michael Fleischer Published in Insights Magazine
"From the War on Terror to the Workplace: Ensuring Successful Transitions for Our Citizen-Soldiers Under USERRA"

Seyfarth Shaw Boston partner Daniel Klein and associate Michael Fleischer were recently published in the Spring 2011 issue of Insights Magazine. Their article discusses the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and its recent impact in the workforce, pointing out the lack of a statute of limitations and that it applies to "virtually all employers regardless of size, and covers nearly all employees, including those who are part-time or probationary."

Daniel and Michael give an overview of the act and provide suggestions to HR professionals, touching on eligibility, exemptions, reintegration and best practices, and they list some practical considerations for employers. They conclude by suggesting, "Employers should foster a work environment that celebrates military service."
