Erica Bakies to Speak at the ABA International Law Section 2024 Annual Conference

Erica Bakies, counsel in Seyfarth’s Government Contracts practice, will serve as a panelist for a session in the ABA International Law Section 2024 Annual Conference held in DC. She will be speaking in a session titled, “If You Want Peace, Prepare for War: How Governments Are Changing Their Defense Procurement and Industrial Strategies” on Thursday, May 9.

The panel, composed of attorneys across the states and other nations, will focus on national security strategy, specifically defense procurement. Key points include geopolitical tensions, technological advancements, economic considerations, offsets and localization, export controls, agents and lobbying, and delivery delays. Hosted under the Trade Track, this CLE program delves into the complexities of defense procurement across various jurisdictions.
