Join us for a drink and to hear from three seasoned workplace investigators from the UK, Australia and Hong Kong who will share some tales from the trenches and top tips on what to do and avoid doing when dealing with complex cross-border investigations.

Workplace investigations have seen a noticeable increase worldwide in recent years. Heightened employee awareness of rights and stronger regulatory frameworks for whistleblowing are just some of the contributing factors. Further, the prevalence of cross-border workforces creates much greater complexity for employers in navigating compliance as part of these already sensitive situations - from conflicting legal protections for employees across jurisdictions, to language barriers, cultural differences, and data privacy regulations, there are several unique risks faced in cross-border investigations.

Seyfarth is pleased to invite you to this informal networking and knowledge-sharing event at our offices, where you will hear captivating stories from the frontlines of workplace investigations that our international employment law team has tackled across the years. Darren Perry and Peter Talibart—both employment law specialists, highly-experienced workplace investigators, and co-chairs of Seyfarth’s International Department—will engage in a fireside chat led by Kathryn Weaver to address such questions and issues as:

  • whether client-attorney privilege can really apply to investigations;
  • where to start when dealing with an anonymous complaint;
  • the limits to keeping an investigation confidential; and
  • duty of care to the complainant, the accused and the wider workforce,

as well as discussing lessons learned from real life workplace investigations scenarios; frequent hurdles and mis-steps, and how to avoid the legal pitfalls; and practical tips for a successful cross-border workplace investigation.

There will be time for Q&A at the end, as well as the opportunity to network over refreshments.

Kindly register your attendance at this exclusive event before 19 July. We hope to see you there.
