Harness the Power of Data and Technology to Tell the Law Department’s Value Story
Many legal teams are data-rich but insight-poor, with critical data left uncaptured and unanalyzed.
CHALLENGE
The GC of an international manufacturing conglomerate came to us with an idea to improve the operational effectiveness, performance, and visibility of the legal function. A multidisciplinary team across Seyfarth and Seyfarth Lean Consulting partnered with the client on a solution that would demonstrate the team’s value to the larger organization.
SOLUTION
We conducted an in-depth analysis of the department’s evaluation methods for legal spend effectiveness and their overall ability to harness the power of data and technology. This work culminated in the development of customized key performance indicators and delivery of an interactive dashboard built using best-inbreed technology across data capture, data aggregation, and data visualization.
RESULTS
Through our collaborative approach, we helped the GC empower the legal team to think more broadly about the legal function’s role as risk manager and resource stewards for the company. Our dashboard has improved the GC’s visibility into the successes of the department and areas for potential improvement, while demonstrating the value and performance of the legal function to key stakeholders across the globe.
