Helen McFarland Discusses Washington State Pay Disclosure Requirements in Law360

Law360 quoted Helen McFarland in its article, “Washington Cases To Watch In 2025,” on January 1. McFarland discussed a case that has been filed against employers in response to the stricter pay disclosure requirements that took effect in 2023 as part of Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunities Act.

“A favorable decision for both employers and workers is one in which the court will hold that a job applicant is defined as a 'bona fide' job applicant…That aligns with the intent of the legislature and the statute itself, which is to promote pay equity.”
