Seyfarth partner Jason Polevoy has received the prestigious honor of being elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL). Polevoy was one of only five New York-based lawyers to be accorded this recognition.

ACREL is “the select national association of preeminent commercial real estate lawyers focused on service to clients, colleagues and the profession.” Membership, following a rigorous screening process, is by invitation only to lawyers who are “distinguished real estate practitioners and who have contributed to the improvement of real estate law through a combination of speaking, writing, teaching, and serving on relevant boards and commissions.”

He joins Seyfarth colleagues Joel Rubin and Lester Bliwise as members of an exclusive group of “distinguished, nationally-known lawyers elected to fellowship for their outstanding legal ability, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law.”

He represents a wide range of clients in all aspects of complex commercial real estate law. Polevoy offers more than two decades of experience encompassing a wide range of transactional areas. His comprehensive background includes commercial leasing, sales, acquisitions, joint ventures, financing (both debt and equity), restructurings and workouts, as well as management, construction, and architect agreements.

Polevoy co-chairs the Commercial Leasing Committee of the New York State Bar Association and is a member of its Real Property Law Section Executive Committee. He previously served as chair of the Real Property Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association.

ACREL, founded in 1978, is comprised of more than 1,000 lawyers “distinguished for their skill, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law. The College is dedicated to the promotion of professionalism, collegiality, respect, and friendship among our Fellows.”

The primary objectives of the College are to:

  • Promote high standards of professional and ethical responsibility in the practice of real estate law
  • Improve the quality of real estate law and practice
  • Make available to the bar and to the public authoritative educational materials in the field of real estate law
  • Inform the membership of the most current developments in real estate law and practice
  • Address issues of importance to real estate law and practice and participating in law reform when appropriate
  • Cooperate and consult with national, state, and local bar organizations, government agencies, and other groups that involve real estate law and practice
