Seyfarth Shaw Labor and Employment partner Karla Grossenbacher wrote an article published in the June 2012 issue of Law Journal Newsletters' Employment Law Strategist. The article discussed various issues that arise when electronic handheld devices, such as BlackBerries or iPhones are given to non-exempt employees with the expectation that the employees can be contacted at any time.

Karla touches on wage and hour laws and what constitutes compensable time. She offers employers several tips on how to avoid litigation, including 1) having a policy in place; 2) disseminating the policy; and 3) training managers.
