Kristina Launey quoted in CityWatchLA
Kristina Launey’s recent blog post, “California Governor Takes Action to Combat Emotional Support Animal Fraud,” was quoted in a December 13 story from CityWatchLA, “New California Law Cracks Down On Emotional Support Animal (Esa) Fraud.” Launey said that California law currently contains a provision providing that a person who knowingly and fraudulently represents a dog is a guide, signal, or service dog, can be found guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding 6 months, by a fine not exceeding $1,000, or by both that fine and imprisonment; there was no similar provision for ESAs—until now.
