For the 10th time, Seyfarth was named a Law360 top Employment “Practice Group of the Year.” Now in its 12th year, the “Practice Group of the Year” series drew nearly 900 submissions in 2021. The distinction is given to those firms behind the litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry in the past year.

With 400 lawyers, Seyfarth’s Labor & Employment department stands at the forefront of the employment industry, defending companies of all sizes at the epicenter of today’s largest, most complex, and strategic matters.

In its profile, Law360 said the firm, “…notched several wins in recent months, including a Ninth Circuit ruling that clarified when a joint employer can force workers into arbitration and a settlement that ended a class action against Jimmy John's that threatened its franchise business model, earning the firm a place as one of Law360's 2021 Practice Groups of the Year.”

In the Law360 profile, Laura Maechtlen, chair of the firm's Labor and Employment department, said the firm is lucky to have a full-service practice that is robust and supports clients outside of labor and employment. Maechtlen continued:

The firm's successes over 2021 were due in part to its commitment to teamwork, but also its technology and operations professionals that contributed to handling client matters.

"We have an excellent culture of collaboration.”

The COVID-19 pandemic also presented new challenges for the firm that underscored the resilience of the labor and employment practice group.
