Michael Afar and Kristina Launey Write on California Wage Hike Effects in Daily Journal
Seyfarth’s Michael Afar and Kristina Launey co-authored an article, “Wage Hikes-is it too much, too fast?,” in the Daily Journal on February 4. The Seyfarth attorneys discussed how California's fast-food industry is facing significant pushback against Assembly Bill 1228, which raised the minimum wage to $20 per hour for workers, as local restaurant owners cite increased operational costs, reduced profitability, and community impact.
“Against a backdrop of other economic strains against businesses, such as increasing food prices, this is the opportunity for the FFC to slow down and reconsider whether the consequences of AB 1228 are playing out as intended.”
