In this webinar, members of Seyfarth’s Chicago office offer a practical discussion on the new and unfamiliar business-critical issues Illinois companies are facing from the COVID-19 pandemic. As the state moves into the “Phase 3 - Recovery” stage where more businesses are permitted to reopen and more employees are physically returning to work, businesses will be challenged with even more unique trials. Topics include:

  • Governor Pritzker and Mayor Lightfoot’s stated plans for reopening Illinois and Chicago businesses.
  • Employment issues to be mindful of when returning employees to work, including leaves and accommodation, employee screening and testing, and minimizing legal risks.
  • Employee benefit considerations for the returning workforce, particularly those that have been on furlough or who may want to change their benefits.
  • Managing business stimulus options and the resources available – including tax relief, loans, and loan forgiveness.
  • High level overview of potential risk for consumer-related liability as businesses reopen, how to avoid or mitigate exposure, and the potential availability of business insurance.
  • Guidance to commercial Landlords and Tenants --  how to strategize, prepare and advocate for an effective reopening.
