Ryan McCoy Discusses Rest and Meal Break Rules in California and Washington in Law360 Employment Authority

Law360 Employment Authority quoted Ryan McCoy in its article, “Feds Likely To Drop Ban On States' Rest, Meal Break Rules,” on March 1. McCoy discussed that rules in California and Washington which require rest and meal breaks for workers may once again apply to commercial truck and bus drivers if the US Department of Transportation moves forward with proposals to loosen its regulatory action that preempts them.

“That is going to change how they have to comply with the California Labor Code…in the event that the FMCSA grants the petition, the employer has to be ready at a moment's notice to change its practices.”
