Seyfarth’s Andrew Paley and Angelo Paparelli Named to Daily Journal’s 2020 List of “Top Labor & Employment Attorneys”

Seyfarth’s Andrew Paley, Labor & Employment partner in Los Angeles, and Angelo Paparelli, Immigration partner in Los Angeles, were recognized as top lawyers in their field by the Daily Journal.

The Daily Journal profiled Paley’s successful representation of Allstate in a class action alleging off the clock work underpayments. The Daily Journal writes of Paley:

“One specialty is his talent for successfully attacking improper statistical and survey methodologies relied upon by plaintiffs’ counsel in class and collective actions.”

Using this novel defense strategy, Paley and the Seyfarth team successfully decertified the class action and won two more times in the court of appeal.

“I joke that I went to law school because math was not my strong suit , but I do work with statistics experts and I have learned more than I ever thought I would know about this discipline,” Paley told the Daily Journal.

The Daily Journal showcased Paparelli’s work with clients in employment-based immigration matters as a result of the White House’s recent immigration policy reforms.

Paparelli told the Daily Journal, “The president’s latest edict basically shut down the employment-based work visa system in the primary categories for H1-B knowledge workers, even including transferees from companies’ affiliate offices abroad.”

The Daily Journal also noted of Paparelli:

“After decades as an authority in the field, this year he was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.”
