Seyfarth’s Joshua Seidman to testify before the Colorado FAMLI Task Force
Address
633 17th Street
Denver, CO 80202
On Tuesday, November 12, Seyfarth Labor & Employment Associate Joshua Seidman will testify before the Colorado FAMLI Task Force. The Task Force, a legislatively-appointed group, is examining various paid family and medical leave (PFML) topics, and will be making recommendations to the state regarding specific details that should be included in a 2020 bill.
The testimony will highlight PFML considerations from a business perspective, including legal and practical compliance challenges facing employers that are covered by one or more state PFML programs. Key highlights from the testimony include:
- Assessing potential family member definitions and the impact of those that go beyond the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, and a majority of existing state PFML programs
- Coordinating state PFML benefits with existing employer-provided paid leave benefits
- Understanding PFML employee eligibility options and criteria
- Protections for “small” employers, i.e., employers with workforces under a certain employee threshold
- PFML program funding and employer considerations
