Seyfarth’s Steven Meier and John Napoli Earn Top 25 Honors from Opportunity Zone Magazine

Seyfarth’s Steven R. Meier and John P. Napoli have earned "Top 25" honors from Opportunity Zone Magazine. Meier, co-chair of Seyfarth’s national Tax practice and Opportunity Zone Funds group, was named a "Top 25 Tax Specialist". Napoli, co-chair of the firm’s Opportunity Zone Funds group, was named a "Top 25 Attorney".

Opportunity Zone Magazine has recognized the industry's leading and most influential opportunity zone professionals in five categories: attorneys, fund managers/developers, tax specialists, policy influencers, and professionals in specialized fields. Candidates were evaluated based on their vision, influence, and industry experience.

Chair of Seyfarth's national Corporate department, Meier is highly skilled in developing real estate and alternative investment programs of all types, including Qualified Opportunity Funds, REITs, investment funds, and complex like-kind exchange programs (such as Delaware Statutory Trust investment programs). He serves as general tax counsel to numerous businesses and entrepreneurs, and advises them on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, equity compensation and related matters, and dispositions to strategic and financial acquirers.

Napoli is the co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office and also co-chairs the firm’s national tax practice. He practices federal, state and local tax law, and advises public and private clients on tax issues relating to opportunity zones, corporate mergers and acquisitions, international transactions, restructurings, consolidations, financing, real estate (including REITs), tax free like kind 1031 exchanges, subchapter S corporations, partnerships, joint ventures, and limited liability companies. Napoli is highly skilled in shaping tax-efficient real estate transactions, including the formation, operation, and liquidation of REITs and UPREITs.
