About the Program
Many attorneys are seeking or considering career transitions. In this program, we offer a candid conversation with a Career Coach and Leadership Coach who regularly work with candidates and new/lateral attorneys in making transitions into and within the legal field. With a mindmap approach, we will discuss key areas of consideration when making a transition. Whether this is your first or fifth legal job, there are tactics for finding employment you truly desire and succeeding in that first year in a new organization, including:

- Post-offer, know what questions to ask next to assess firm values and how they align with your own, clarify expectations, and prepare for onboarding and integration upon offer acceptance
- Prepare your mindset for optimal performance
- Consider the impact of acceptance and adaptability in the workplace
- Plan an approach to build relationships, work efficiently, and succeed quickly
Speakers
Andrea Yang, ICF-ACC, JD, is a former litigator turned career coach, helping lawyers and law students with professional development, career transitions, and holistic well-being.
Andrea brings over a decade of experience in the legal industry to her coaching. She coaches attorneys through Andrea Yang Coaching and counsels law students at Pepperdine University. She has litigated at Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Robins Kaplan LLP, served as a federal judicial clerk, and consulted on the Seattle Police Monitoring Team.
Andrea trained through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching. She holds degrees from Georgetown University Law Center and Harvard University.
Kate Kerr, JD, ICF-ACC, SHRM-SCP, has been a lawyer, consultant, HR professional and certified coach. She primarily works with law firms on fractional professional development, leadership and coaching.
With a background in strategic advisory services at Ernst & Young, a U.S. Fulbright Scholarship, legal practice at Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe and talent development at law firms, she has led teams in high profile talent initiatives in leadership development, performance management and recruiting. She facilitates workshops on self-awareness, mindset, communication, goal setting and action planning. She cares about people, their careers, development and overall engagement.
Kate holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, completed her undergraduate studies at Grinnell College and received a Fulbright Scholarship in India. She completed her coach training through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching.
