Catherine has 30 years of experience in litigation representing clients in the health care retail, personal services, pharmaceutical, technology, hospitality, security services, restaurant, insurance, financial services, food production, transportation, publishing, and entertainment industries, through trial and appeal. She has successfully defended employers in wage and hour class actions, as well as discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, whistleblower, and other matters in state and federal court.
Catherine was part of the trial team that obtained the first defense jury verdict in a wage and hour class action in California. The trial court’s decertification of one of the classes in the same case was upheld on appeal in a published opinion. Catherine has secured denial of class certification in meal and rest, misclassification, and overtime cases. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal upheld summary judgment and denial of class certification in an overtime compensation case she defended for an international client.
Catherine has conducted numerous seminars and trainings on employment topics for a wide variety of clients and organizations, and is a contributor to the firm’s published treatise on wage and hour law, Wage and Hour Collective and Class Litigation.
