More About Jackie
When defending an administrative charge of discrimination or a lawsuit, employers typically encounter challenges involving fading witness memories, poor performance management, or poor documentation. Clients look to Jackie not just to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the case and prepare a defense, but also to look for missed opportunities that can be corrected moving forward to avoid future charges.
Jackie’s practice focuses on single-plaintiff claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on sex, race, national origin, age, religion, pregnancy, disability, and other protected categories. She has experience representing employers in federal and state courts, administrative agency investigations, arbitrations, and mediations. Her skills also include reviewing and drafting personnel policies and employee handbooks, advising on workplace investigations and employee discipline, conducting employment-related seminars, including sexual harassment prevention seminars, and managing employment litigation.
Before attending law school, Jackie worked as a labor and employment paralegal for a firm that represented both employers and employees. That experience allowed her to gain perspective on both sides of a legal issue and to be mindful of the emotional impact contentious employment situations have on all parties involved. Jackie understands that there is a strong human component to this area of law and prides herself on building trusting relationships on all sides of the table through direct and empathetic communication. She frequently draws on her background as a daughter of a New York City firefighter to put others at ease.
As a former college athlete, Jackie enjoys working as part of a team and the atmosphere of camaraderie at Seyfarth. Her clients benefit from the absence of internal competition and the willingness of every attorney to offer advice and assistance.
