More About Janine
Janine has a deep understanding of the life of a business, the particular obstacles a small business faces, and how legal issues can arise from various positions in the market. Prior to graduating from law school, Janine worked for a small law firm; she also externed at the US District Court for the Central District of California. This experience provides Janine with valuable insight to the inner workings of a judge’s chambers, how pleadings are reviewed, and how courts respond to certain arguments.
Janine consistently finds ways to expand her knowledge landscape, and explore a multitude of perspectives in the field. She learns and masters new technology in order to be as efficient and proficient in her work as possible. For instance, in law school, she completed an advanced legal research program, outside her normal course of study, that educated her on underutilized search engines and research techniques in the legal field.
Since joining Seyfarth, Janine has been involved in various traditional labor, single-plaintiff, and class matters. She has a history of working with some of the largest employers in the country, taking on small settlements to nationwide counseling issues.
In particular, Janine's practice includes experience in:
- Defending individual actions for wrongful termination, discrimination, and failure to provide a reasonable accommodation for a disability
- Defending major statewide wage and hour class actions
- Strategic labor relations and planning
- Labor arbitration, unfair labor practice litigation, and related counseling
- Representing employers in connection with representation petitions and union organizing
- Labor and employment counseling, litigation strategy, and management
Janine loves the complexity and real-world aspect of labor and employment law. With constantly evolving legal issues, every day is stimulating and challenging for her.
