More About Misty
Misty has successfully defended national companies in employment discrimination, including FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, race, sex, religion, pregnancy and genetics claims, retaliation and wrongful discharge claims, before state and federal agencies and courts. She has also litigated wage and employment classification claims, including collective actions.
Misty has also served as outside general counsel for companies to proactively mitigate their risk through consultation and contractual agreements. She is experienced in negotiating and drafting business and employment contracts, corporate policies and employment handbooks. Misty combines extensive legal and corporate management experience to give her clients the advantage of an attorney capable of understanding more than just the legal implications of a transaction or matter in litigation.
Prior to joining Seyfarth, Misty was a partner in Chicago for a nationally recognized trial firm. For more than a decade, she represented corporations, insurance companies and individuals in general and complex litigation in state and federal courts including the areas of transportation, logistics, business disputes, products liability, advertising, healthcare, class action, and general corporate matters. Misty has handled cases involving death and catastrophic injuries.
As a result of her efforts in the legal profession, Misty was named among the Illinois “40 Attorneys Under 40 to Watch” by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company in 2015. Out of more than 65,000 attorneys licensed to practice in Illinois, just 640 lawyers have been named to the 40 Under 40 list.
