More About Tanya
While retirement and health plan benefits are standard components of compensation packages, they can present a myriad of complications under both state and federal laws. Employers rely on Tanya to assist them with understanding and complying with these laws.
Tanya has been providing employee benefits advice since 1996. Through her years of experience, Tanya has handled a wide variety of issues relating to pension and welfare plans, including plan design, participant communications, mergers, benefit claims and procedures, QDROs, reporting requirements, fiduciary liability, and other federal and state related compliance requirements.
A large part of Tanya's practice involves multi-employer plans. She regularly attends multi-employer plan board meetings and provides advice on matters that are common to these types of plans, such as prohibited transactions, withdrawal liability, and investments.
Tanya has also represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation on matters related to plan qualification, compliance with ERISA, and plan insolvency issues. Her direct experience with the agencies that govern retirement and health plans provides her with a unique perspective that enables her to spot problems quickly and ensure that they are resolved in a way that makes sense from both an operational and business perspective.
At Seyfarth, Tanya truly enjoys the wide range of clients with whom she works, from smaller employers to multi-employer plans with billions of dollars in assets. These clients also span many different industries, such as retail, food services, and entertainment. No day is ever dull in Tanya's practice, and she would not have it any other way.
